A time to celebrate...

This week we are celebrating my grandparent's 60 years of marriage. We traveled to my home town over the weekend to spend today with a large part of my family to witness a renewal of wedding vows that have lasted for so long. We all attended church together and immediately afterwards we watched as their minister lead them through their vows, just like it was the first time. My grandpa was holding back tears trying to get through and it was the sweetest thing I've ever seen. The fact that this whole thing was his idea made it even better. We all had lunch together at the church and my mom asked me to say the prayer before lunch. I thanked God for this wonderful day and for the awesome example my grandparents have been to all of us through their dedication to family and friends. I was choked up trying to get through that myself. Then we spent time together laughing and watching grandma and grandpa cut their "wedding" cake just like newleyweds. Grandpa threatened to shove cake in grandma's face but that idea did not get the final vote. Grandma whispered under her breath, "you better not"! My cousin Steve and his wife Mariann have a little girl, Rachel (my 3rd cousin) and she is infatuated with Alexander. She followed him around all day and gave him hugs and kisses. It was so cute. Noah ran around and entertained everyone with his silliness. We had a great time being together for such a great celebration!

Weekend outside

This weekend was absolutely gorgeous so we stayed outside as much as possible. I headed outside first thing Saturday to powerwash the deck and mow the yard. Little man played in his exersaucer and watched me move furniture off the deck. He even got to give Sonny treats all weekend. Sonny is so good with him and I'm so glad! Aunt Mel and Bobby stopped over to play for a while and little man had a ball spending time with them. Saturday night we headed to Broadripple for dinner and walked a bit but it was getting late and all the partiers were showing up so we opted to go home but it was worth the trip. Sunday we headed out for breakfast and groceries as usual but spent our afternoon at Eagle Creek watching the boaters and all the hispanic kids play. Alexander had the best time seeing all the kids AFTER he woke up. Then we wrapped up the weekend at Aunt ChaChi's grilling out and playing in the grass. We had so much fun watching Alexander pose for the camera. I think he is so good looking...model material!

The weekend in a few words from Alexander...played at the park, got to swing with mommy, went for a stroll at the canal (fell asleep), ate oranges with daddy, got new shoes, played basketball in my living room, wore my new MPV outfit from Grammy and Grandpy, got to see Grammy and Grandpy and Grandma and Grandpa Berkshire (waiting on those pics), played with my new toys that aunt Mel bought me (she's the coolest), ate cheesecake and the Cheesecake Factory, wore my new rooten-tooten cowboy outfit from Aunt Lori, and laughed and laughed and laughed at my daddy!

Seven months and sitting up!

This weekend we realized that Alexander could totally sit up on his own. We had been trying for a while now but he always fell over in a few seconds. Now, he's on his own. He has a second tooth coming in too. He's getting so big, too big! Everyday he does the funniest things and just amazes us at how smart he is. And, that smile...oh that smile. We just can't get enough!!! Abuelita can't get enough either. She loves to play peek-a-boo with Alexander and as you can see from the picks, he's totally into that game! First Mother's Day

Yesterday was my first Mother's Day and it was just great. Ricardo had thought ahead and printed out homemade cards that he helped Alexander write in. They were the most thoughtful cards I'd ever received. He also got me two new cute t-shirts (karate themed of course) and $100 gift card to Khol's. He even took me there and sat there while I shopped and tried on clothes. He's the BEST! But, the best part of the day was just being able to hang out with my boys doing fun things like eating out, shopping, and playing in our back yard. Alexander loved his new swing and embarrasing as it is, I even sat on the swing I made last summer in my pjs and had a little fun too.
