We just got back from visiting Ricardo's family in Velencia Venezuela. It was a super fun trip with lots of visiting with family and friends. Ricardo hadn't been back in over 5 years and it was long overdue. We had tons of fun eating the food(even indescribable meat), drinking, and even the sun burn was worth it! Ricardo and his uncle went diving and the rest of us snorkeled in the most beautiful water I have ever seen. It was so clear you could see fish and coral for hundreds of feet. Ricardo became a Godfather for the first time which is something very special in their culture and he got to teach his dad's Karate class. He's quite a hero in the Karate circle let me tell ya. The kids even wanted his autograph. We listened to his family Keraoke and we danced which was so fun. I've become pretty good at speaking Spanish now and hopefully by the time we return in December for New Years, I'll be fairly fluent. I think hearing Spanish in our house is going to become a pretty regular occurence over the next 6 months. Culturally, I've never met people so warm and welcoming! I can't wait to go back already!!! (oh, and the shopping wasn't too bad either)
