Another fun weekend at the Guerreros!

Last weekend was quite an eventful one at our house. Saturday we spent the day at the Greenwood Freedom Festival...a small street fair at a park in Greenwood. Ricardo, ChaChi, and I handed out flyers for his karate classes and got our first burn of the summer. I looked like a tomato by the end of the day. Then Saturday night my best friend (one of them) Teresa and her family came over and we got pizza and hung out. Although the visit was short lived it was certainly fun to see them! They're kids are getting so big, too big too fast! And, of course we got too chatty so the only pictures I took of the kids were when they were headed out the door and in the car. Macy was not happy with the picture taking and Ben was extremely sleepy at that point. Chad, however, gave us a big smile for the camera. Alexander gave us a big smile too...he loves his Aunt T. Sunday, we headed to Broadripple for lunch at Applebees on the river and then walked to get some frozen yogurt. Alexander is such a big boy now...he ate off of our plates at lunch and we figured out he could drink from a straw. Of course, we shared our frozen yogurt with him which he absolutely loves!

Father's Day

This past weekend was Ricardo's first Father's Day so I thought I'd be creative and do something really great with Alexander. So, I bought a canvas and some finger paints and decided to have him create his first piece of art. He had so much fun wipping his hands in the paint and then feeling how squishy it was. I also go the joy of not only helping him but getting the paint all over me as well. He did such a good job, he only tried to eat it once. Unfortunately, I didn't get to keep the painting a surprise because he saw it in his mom's room. But, he loved it just the same. I put one of them in my office and everyone thinks it's so cute. We spent Father's Day hanging out, eating out, and enjoying time together. Ricardo is such a great dad and I'm so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man!

New toys and a little ice cream...

This weekend we decided to go to Babies R Us and let Alexander pick out some new toys. Thankfully he chose the ones we had already decided on buying, hehe. We got him a walker that is shaped like a Jeep and is a Jeep brand of course. It has a steering wheel that moves and clicks, plays songs, sounds like an engine starting, and has a horn. It also has a key that turns. I think Ricardo might have enjoyed it as much as Alexander. He got a new bath tub, and some new bath toys. Oh, and I couldn't resist a sleeveless vintage Nike shirt. Daddy couldn't resist sharing his Strawberry Haagan Dazs and Alexander clapped for the occassion.

A time to celebrate...

This week we are celebrating my grandparent's 60 years of marriage. We traveled to my home town over the weekend to spend today with a large part of my family to witness a renewal of wedding vows that have lasted for so long. We all attended church together and immediately afterwards we watched as their minister lead them through their vows, just like it was the first time. My grandpa was holding back tears trying to get through and it was the sweetest thing I've ever seen. The fact that this whole thing was his idea made it even better. We all had lunch together at the church and my mom asked me to say the prayer before lunch. I thanked God for this wonderful day and for the awesome example my grandparents have been to all of us through their dedication to family and friends. I was choked up trying to get through that myself. Then we spent time together laughing and watching grandma and grandpa cut their "wedding" cake just like newleyweds. Grandpa threatened to shove cake in grandma's face but that idea did not get the final vote. Grandma whispered under her breath, "you better not"! My cousin Steve and his wife Mariann have a little girl, Rachel (my 3rd cousin) and she is infatuated with Alexander. She followed him around all day and gave him hugs and kisses. It was so cute. Noah ran around and entertained everyone with his silliness. We had a great time being together for such a great celebration!

Weekend outside

This weekend was absolutely gorgeous so we stayed outside as much as possible. I headed outside first thing Saturday to powerwash the deck and mow the yard. Little man played in his exersaucer and watched me move furniture off the deck. He even got to give Sonny treats all weekend. Sonny is so good with him and I'm so glad! Aunt Mel and Bobby stopped over to play for a while and little man had a ball spending time with them. Saturday night we headed to Broadripple for dinner and walked a bit but it was getting late and all the partiers were showing up so we opted to go home but it was worth the trip. Sunday we headed out for breakfast and groceries as usual but spent our afternoon at Eagle Creek watching the boaters and all the hispanic kids play. Alexander had the best time seeing all the kids AFTER he woke up. Then we wrapped up the weekend at Aunt ChaChi's grilling out and playing in the grass. We had so much fun watching Alexander pose for the camera. I think he is so good looking...model material!
