On the road

This past weekend we went to not one but two tournaments. Alexander scored 4 medals and did a pretty good job along with the rest if the team. And, as usual, we had an awesome time with our karate family!

RIP Sonny

Today we had to make a very difficult decision to put our friend and companion Sonny to sleep. Sonny was 9 1/2 years old...I've had him since he was 12 weeks old! He was about 45 pounds when I got him and at Christmas weighed 135 pounds. He was the best dog all the time. He was my protector when Ricardo wasn't home and Alexander's friend as he got older. He never chewed anything, ate furniture, or hurt anyone which is a record most dogs couldn't keep. We'll, he may have made a few people pee their pants over the years because he was scary! Ha! I rarely took a picture of him over the past few years that Alexander was either acting like he was riding him, chocking him, or hugging him. Sonny loved the snow and all things milkbone! There was rarely a fruit he didn't like (except bananas). Good memories that's for sure!
He got sick about a month ago and just went downhill pretty fast. Ricardo and I took him to the vet today and sat their with him until he was sedated and then left him in the good hands of our vet. We will miss you Sonny! Have fun in heaven with all of your pals!!! You were the best and we will love you always!

Easter pics

We headed to church early yesterday so we could help out at a nursing home and push the patients to attend a church service that our church puts on weekly. It's really rewarding and our small group has a great time together which makes it even better. On the Easter front, Alexander loved his horse and all the candy he got. My parents got carried away! I have to say he looks totally cute in his shirt we saved for Easter. I don't really believe in new Easter clothes but Abuela brought him a new shirt when she came so I figured that would make for perfect Easter digs. She kept trying to get him to take off his flip flops but he wasn't having it as usual. That kid LOVES his flops!

Easter Project

We spent quite a bit of time working on the play set this weekend. As you might remember last year (picture #1) it started with our good friend piecing together what had been left there from the previous owners and making it safer. Well, after a year of waiting basically we finally got a slide and figured out how to make this thing not only look awesome but be as safe as possible for Alexander and his pals. So, here we have it. A safe…fun…and too cool new ‘apartment’ as Alexander is now calling it. The smaller end is the tree house and this end is the apartment. All I have to do now is paint it and put down the rubber chips under both ends. But, that will come with time and is really just peanuts compared to getting this mansion built properly!

Jeep night and then some...

We had a fun evening with the Skinners. My mother in law cooked Paella and the kids had an awesome time playing in the yard in the warm weather! We even got a super funny video of them play fighting. I'm not sure who had more fun...the kids or us watching!

Official Kindergartner

We headed to kindergarten registration last night...in the old days they called it kindergarten roundup (I.E. When I was little). Like I told my colleagues I don't mean to brag but he scored 132/154 in their assessment and the district average is 108. He's a genius! Ok maybe not but he's pretty darn smart. He had a great time looking at all the rooms and seeing the art room for him was really fun. And, he got to wear his favorite tshirt and flip flops so that made it even better!
