Sweet Baby Feet

My Dadda Is #1!

I know you can't see it
but the shirt Alexander is wearing says "My Dadda Is #1"! He loves his daddy soooo much that it makes him smile even when he sleeps!

...on the way down

We thought it would be just as fun to record how I look after Alexander just like we did before Alexander. Here is a pic of me today, day 4. We took the baby to his doctor appointment, went to eat at Cracker Barrel (his first time eating out), and then did a little shopping. It was so nice to be able to put on my favorite boots that are super high again. Realizing today that I'm not pregnant anymore as I sat with Alexander at the doctor's office was very odd.

Too Cute!

We gave Alexander a little bath today and this is what he looked like all bundled up in his towel. Um, don't you just want to eat him up???

Just 4 days ago...

It's hard to believe 4 days have already come and almost gone since Alexander was born. We can't even believe how much this little person has already brought so much joy to our lives!

Alexander The Great!

Alexander arrived today in a full force C-Section. After only being in hard labor for about 6 hours, I was fully dilated and my doctor couldn't believe it. The nurses had simply used the cervadil and didn't have to resort to any pitocin to start contractions. After spending the whole day laying in bed, watching tv with Ricardo, and visiting with family that came to hang out, I began having the REAL contractions. My doctor had told me many times that the contractions I felt, while painful, were nothing compared to the "real" ones that were to come. I have never in my life experienced pain like that. I basically dealt with them on my own without drugs for 2 hours and then I was done. That anesthesiologist became my best friend in a small amount of time. I pushed for an hour and a half and unfortunately Alexander wouldn't turn from his sunny side up position so my doctor decided to perform the C-Section. I got a super dose of epidural which numbed me so bad I couldn't even budge my legs causing me to freak out a little in the OR...I felt clausterphobic. After Ricardo calmed me down, I relaxed and we couldn't believe our time had finally come to meet or little guy. Eventually he was taken out and we were able to see what we had made. It was incredible and humorous at the same time. Alexander looks just like his aunt ChaChi. After he got cleaned up and Ricardo took pictures I actually fell asleep. I'm the only person I know that consiously fell asleep without being put to sleep for a major surgery. He and the anesthesiologist thought it was so funny they took pictures of me laying there snoring. Not cute! Anyway, Alexander weighed 8 lbs. 4 ounces and was 20 and 3/4 inches long. He is already the best baby. He has barely cried all day and is so content not to mention the fact that he seems to have been taught to breast feed MANY years ago...not sure how that worked out but we're thankful it did! We have a gazillion pics but we decided just to start with these 3 for now.

Abuela Clause

My mother in law, Igsora, arrived today to visit for the next month and spend time with the baby. Of course it looked like Christmas in our living room because she seriously had 2 suitcases full of gifts so I started calling her Santa Clause. But, ChaChi thought Abuela Clause or "Grandma Clause" was much more fitting. When you have a trash bag out to dispose of the wrapping and tissue paper, it's like Christmas. She made Alexander sheets for his crib complete with matching pillow cases, a blanket that is embroidered with his initials and clothes. She even brought him a bracelet that's engraved with his name. Latinos always have little necklaces and bracelets for babies to wear...it's a cultural thing. Ricardo was so excited because the bracelet looks just like the one I got him for his wedding gift that's also engraved. He's already so excited that his son is going to look like him in so many ways. Ricardo's aunts made him sheets also and his dad and grandma sent clothes as well. And, of course, we all got gifts too like clothes, Venezuelan cheese, and cool little things like roseries (they're Catholic). Ricardo's whole family made Alexander a book that has a nice message for Alexander written by each one of them. They are seriously the sweetest people!

We took Abuela Clause out for dinner to the Cheesecake Factory and took some fun pictures after we ate. You can take notice of the super huge belly I'm sporting right now. A white shirt will always do the trick!

Wonderful Surprise

This evening Ricardo and I were eating dinner and the UPS truck pulled up. We hadn't ordered anything so we weren't expecting anything to be delivered. Well, Ricardo goes to get it and brings back this box from a flower store. Low and behold they were flowers for me from my two best friends. They are the sweetest women in the world and knowing how ready I am not to be pregnant and to meet our baby, thought enough of me to send me flowers to cheer me up. God's sends blessings when you're least expecting him to.
