Graduate

My mom is getting ready for her graduation debut. She gets to walk in May but has three classes to finish before August. We're really proud of her accomplishment! And Steve's too...he's had to put up with her! Ha! She did a year long internship at the Y and has scored a part time job as a result. Super cool!!!

New...old chairs

Our sweet neighbor that passed had some really great furniture that has withstood the test of time. They just don't make stuff like that anymore that's for sure. This weekend we grabbed her two matching chairs out of the garage so we could see if they matched. I love the vintage fabric and can't wait to put some great modern pillows on them in our formal living room. I told Ricardo someone would pay top dollar for this fabric in the decorating world. Alexander has enjoyed having some additional furniture to climb on and act silly. I think he likes the fact that they were Beryl's because he loved her and asks about her often.

Sunday night weenie roast

Sunday evening we headed out to Plainfield to Fancy Nancy's (that's what we call Eli's mom) for a Sunday night weenie roast with our good friends and their family. Our friend Eli (shown shoving his face with food on the bottom pic) is spending some quality time with his younger brother and family from Alaska. He hasn't been here for 2 years and none of us have met him so this was a real treat. They have two adorable kids and are the sweetest people. Our boys ran all over the place...as you can see the property is enormous and literally surrounded by corn fields. Our friend Eric spent a good amount of time chasing the boys around even after it was dark. When I say dark, it was pitch black out there...no street lights in the country. It was a perfect night for frisbee, great food, and great friends. We are continously blessed by their friendship and are so thankful God brought us all together like he did.

Spring Break Finale

Ricardo violated a long standing order of never taking Alexander to Chuckie Cheese. He's officially fired! But, at least Alexander is having fun on his last day of spring break!!!

First T-Ball Practice

Yesterday was Alexander's first t-ball practice. We got super lucky that his coach was out of town and he got to practice with our good friend Eric...Mr. Baseball himself! He's like Ricardo in the patience area and has a ton of it and loves coaching and loves The Lord which is awesome! Alexander did such a great job and we think it might have had something to do with using Nate's bat and mitt. I think he was channeling Nate's great skills!!!

Easter fun

Easter fun

We started off our Easter weekend of fun by heading to the Good Friday service at church. It's a nice time of reflection and of course we always enjoy seeing our church pals. Our head pastor Steve got a jab in at me when we were leaving. He always stops to shake hands and hug Ricardo when he sees him so I asked him if he was acousting my husband. He said no, I'm hugging him because someone has to. I slapped him of course. ERRR! So I had to come up with something good to get him back (more about that later). Saturday we ran to the Y for an Easter egg hunt where Grammy and P volunteered to help. Ricardo had a meeting with our mortgage guy so Meme went with me and I'm so thankful she did. I have had a bad sinus infection for the past week and I enjoyed the extra hands. Saturday evening Alexander got to color eggs with Aunt ChaChi and Grammy while Ricardo and I went to look at a house and took advantage of the time and stopped at Texas Roadhouse and actually sat at the bar to eat like grownups. We even made two new friends while we were there which was super fun. Sunday, we headed to church where I had to do announcements in front of probably 1000 people there. One of the announcements was about FREE lunch in 2 weeks. I made the grand statement that you better get there on time or Steve will eat all the sandwiches. HA! Now, I'm afraid this will forever go back and forth. Nice! I'm so thankful to be able to spend a weekend celebrating the great gift we have of eternal salvation and life in Heaven. This year saying Happy Easter was more meaningful than it had been in the past.
