Life with our child is never boring. He's the kid that sticks his tongue out at people because he is "just being silly" or says I don't like you at a stranger because well he's, "just being silly". I think you can see the pattern here...ornery, pure rotteness! Last night out of nowhere he tells me that he went to Jesus' house the other day. He said he climbed up a big ladder (using his hands to demonstrate how fast he went which actually resembeled a person trying to imitate a rat) and went really super fast up the ladder and he was there. He finished his story with "and I didn't die"...it was like in your face mom. I nearly peed my pants. Alexander is very curious about when we can see Jesus and we had to explain to him that you really can't until you die. We didn't get into the whole Rapture thing yet so we just kept with it simple with death (ya right simple). I thought it was so cute that he believes he can see Jesus in "his house" and not die. I just love his innocence and how he looks at things in his own unique ways. What I love most is that he has God at the center of even his play time and imagination. I believe that even in our darkest days as parents it's a blessing when you can remember that you must be doing something right when your child is so curious about the Lord.

Grammy's little helper

Thanksgiving 2012

We headed to mom and Steve's this year for Turkey Day...had entirely too much to eat as usual. We got the privledge of putting together my mom's Christmas tree as part of a class project she has to do. She had to write the instructions and basically leave us to work together and she observed. It was a total hoot! Mel, Krystal, Aunt Mary, and I got to work and pretty much cracked up the whole time we put it up. The end of the instructions told us to sing a chorus from our favorite Christmas song...I chose the Christmas Story version of Deck the Halls which if you remember went something like "Deck the halls with bows of HORRY...FA RA RA RA RA, RA RA RA RA! Got a huge laugh out of that one. And, of course, Alexander got his dance on!

Decoration Central

This past weekend Alexander and I tackled the Christmas Tree. This year he is super stoked about Christmas and I love seeing his excitement. I loved Christmas as a kid and we are very fortunate to be able to provide a great Christmas for him and teach him what the holiday is really about. It is a challeng given he's 4 but we do try. Right now, his main concentration is on Santa and if each day is Christmas. Santa is bringing him drums so I hope Santa is kind enough to leave me some nice protective ear wear. Ha!

Happy Anniversary

This past weekend Ricardo and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. I thought I would pay tribute and post some pics of just the two of us from the past 6 years.

Ricardo's Birthday

Ricardo's 35th Birthday was a week ago and a friend who took some pics at his birthday dinner sent them to him today. They're super good so I had a post them!

Operation Christmas Child

For the next month our small group is going to focus on outreach for Christmas and the REAL meaning of Christmas. This week we started our projects and put together boxes for Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse. Great organization and I would highly recommend participating if you can. So, we headed to Edward and Eileen's new house where they are living out of boxes and enjoyed another great night of fellowship and fun with all of our great friends. Having these folks in our lives is amazing and we couldn't be more blessed!

Just remember, it costs little to nothing to put items in a shoe box for a child and the outcome is literally priceless. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/

Happy Birthday Nate and Nicole

Boys Night Out

The boys went out when we were at Amy's. Liam didn't get to go because he was on kid duty with their two little ones. Our guys on the other hand...well, Hooters, need I say more. (and no that isn't Jessica Simpson circa 2004...looks like her though huh?). I told Ricardo if those girls flirted with him it was only because he's old and they think he has money. HA!

Girl's Night Out

Saturday night we headed out to my friend Amy's for a vendor open house. I'd never been to one but it was super fun. There were lots of vendors there like Pampered Chef, Sensy, and even my sister with massages. Ya, I even scored a massage...from Krystal of course. We had lots of drink, food, and great fun with friends. Some of these friends I've known for nearly 16 years so it was great to hang out and catch up.

First Class

Alexander is on the far right (on Ricardo's left)

Yesterday was Alexander's very first "real" karate class. He's seen karate in his life since he was born so this is nothing new to him but wearing a Gi and doing class for real is definately new. I think Ricardo really wanted to smile from ear to ear during the entire class but kept his composure. Alexander did a great job listening and staying with the class which made both of us really happy. He's certainly not ready for a black belt test or anything but you can certainly tell he's watched his Daddy and the other kids a time or two...and the practice at home doesn't hurt either.
